New Game Releases (October 8-14)

First off - sorry for the lack of posting. I was on vacation last week so things got a little hectic. We actually have a pretty good list of kid-themed games this week. As always - please remember that these are not games that we have reviewed yet - just games that seem like they may be ok for kids.

  • Super Paper Mario for the GameCube.
  • Over the Hedge: Hammy Goes Nuts! for the PSP, GBA, DS
  • Barnyard for the GBA, GC, PC, PS2. (This was a fun movie by the way.
  • Noddy and the Magic Book for the PS2.

New Game Releases (September 17-23)

Do you smell that? It smells like Pokemon! This week's new releases are dominated by the little yellow guy. I have to admit - I've never played a Pokemon game in my life and for some reason I feel an instinctive desire to ensure my kids never do... but I can't really explain it. Anyway, here is this weeks new games releases for kids. (And as always, remember that we have not reviewed these games, so use your best judgement before buying.)

  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team
  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 - Not really a kids game, but Scott reviewed the 06 version and his kid loved it.

New Game Releases (September 10-16)

Sorry I'm a bit late this week folks. This week the big news is....

That's right - Lego Star Wars II is now out. If the game is half as good as the first one (which my son I finished last Friday) than it is well worth your money. It is available on every system so you have no excuse not to run out and pick this game up.

Other games that may interest your kids this week are...

New Game Releases (September 3-September 9)

Another slow week with nothing to report (for kids that is). However - next week will see the release of Lego Star Wars II. I just started playing part 1 with my son (my next review will be on it), and I have to say, I absolutely love it (as does my son). It is probably safe to say this is a good game to pick up.

New Game Releases (August 27-September 2)

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any good kid friendly games being released this week. But I'm not going to leave you hanging. I thought I'd point out a site that might be useful for parents looking for games for their kids. While definitely not a "Kids Only" site, Jay is Games reviews Flash based and web based games. Because the games are online, they are typically free and quick to access. I've found some real gems there, including...

Ant Tracks is a game much in the vein of the old Lemmings series. Hopefully I'm not the only one here who remembers that classic series. The game involves insects and has some beautiful photographic backgrounds. Jay reviewed the site a few weeks ago and noted that sometimes the ads were a big PG-13, so keep that in mind.

New Game Releases (August 20-26)

Another short list this week. It almost makes you wonder if no one is playing video games and are instead enjoying the summer! Anyway, this weeks game is Spinout.

Spintout is described as a mix between Wipeout and Super Monkey Ball. Spinout is available on PSP and PS2. (Although I believe only the PSP version is available this week.)

New Game Releases (August 13-19)

Not many games to report this week. As I mentioned last time, every week I'll be reporting on the new game releases that may be of interest to younger players. These aren't games that we have tried yet, but are listing for informational purposes.

On August 18, Zoo Digital will release Matchbox Missions: Emergency Response & Air, Land & Sea Rescue for the GBA. This is actually two games in one. The web site describes it as:

This GBA collection gives you two superb MATCHBOX© games on one great value cart. Save the day with Air, Land and Sea Rescue as a paramedic, fire fighter or member of the marine police patrol. You can then switch over to Emergency Response were you take the role of either the police or the suspect in a high speed, high-octane 3D pursuit.

New Game Releases

Every Wednesday KidGamers.org will present a list of the latest game releases for that week. We will filter the releases by games we think would be of interest to young gamers. Obviously we can't verify these games without reviewing them, but consider the list a simple guide for games to consider. This week the list is very short...

Deep Labyrinth Deep Labyrinth, DS, Rated: E
Deep Labyrinth is an RPG for the Nintendo DS. What makes this RPG interesting is that it has two different versions. One is a RPG more suited for young players while one is appropriate for advanced gamers. This could be a perfect game a parent and child to play together. Look for a review in the upcoming weeks. More information may be found at the game's web site.
